I’ve started the pre-production of Site Build 5. The new version of wac design will push the boundaries of web development, including things like full screen virtual reality panoramas and interactive content. It’s only in the ideas stage at the moment but I will begin development this winter!

I’m currently moving into the development of iPhone Apps. As the iPhone becomes an increasingly dominant force on the phone market, companies are realising the positive effects of investing in an iPhone App. No longer are apps reserved for big companies. A change in technology means that an iPhone app is now something that is feasible for smaller or non-national companies. As a result I will now be developing iPhone applications for local businesses in Worcester, the Midlands and the rest of the UK.

I have created the Creative Network of Worcester on the Behance Nertwork. The group which already has over 100 members is the Midlands portal for creative professionals. I had the idea to create the group when I noticed the wide range of excellent designers in the area. The group is not limited to graphic designers, we have web designers, photographers, animators and everything in between.

Graphic Design

I design logos, livery and letterheads, business cards, banners and book covers, menus, merchandise and much more.
Why not add your project to my portfolio?
Good graphic design is about more than knowing which buttons to press. With Adobe programs like InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Dreamweaver and other software packages like Quark and Studio becoming more popular, more and more people consider themselves to be designers. The actual result of this is that we’re seeing more and more bad design. The importance of good graphic design is indisputable. If a potential client looks at the graphic design on a letter head, business card or banner, that’s a reflection on your business and the link is simple, bad design, bad business, even if that isn’t the case. Graphic design is about more than logos and fonts, it’s about layouts, ebb and flow.

Website Design

Do you like the design of my website? I’m constantly looking for ways to create more innovative web design. Check back soon to see my upcoming projects. Good web design is made up of two elements. Firstly it’s the technical design and usability. The site needs to be functional and as such the designer must know the appropriate software and coding. Websites must also be designed with usability in mind, the user must be able to navigate the pages in a clear and easy manner. Last (but by no means least) the site must incorporate excellent graphic design. There are too many webpages that have been designed with technical competence but lack good graphic design, making them look unappealing.

Piano Hero Junior was designed to help children to learn the basics of playing the Piano. Children have an astonishing commitment to computer games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero and though they will become very good at the game, the skill is (as yet) not transferable to a real instrument. In Piano Hero Junior the keys are accompanied by numbers (1-10) after selecting a song the user then sees a series of numbers scrolling across the screen. By either clicking on the correct key or pressing the corresponding number on a computer keyboard as the numbers pass a marker, the player will be playing that song. Furthermore with a little practice they can substitute the computer keyboard for a real one and play the songs they’ve learnt. Piano Hero Junior is in its early beta stages. As the game is developed it will include numerous new features including: A dynamic scoring system, a much larger library of songs and an expanded “pro” mode. Piano Hero Junior is a learning tool, and as such this, and all subsequent versions are free!

Photography

I’m always looking for interesting things to take pictures of. My portfolio shows you a good cross-section of my work, all of my photos are available to purchase as prints. As a graphic and web designer, the need to take a good picture is paramount, but I’m looking to expand my services to weddings and corporate events.
I have three stereoscopic 3D cameras, one of which is designed to go underwater. 3D is becoming less of a novelty and I’m looking to incorporate 3D stereoscopic photography into future weddings and events as well as everyday design, when required.

Blog:

I was born in Evesham, Worcestershire. My grandfather who also lived in Evesham was a professional building plan designer who, until his death was one of the ware few people who still did his designs by hand. I embrace any new technology that will assist in creating new and innovative designs however I will never forget the importance of starting on paper. I live in Worcester and provide freelance design services to Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich, Malvern, Bromsgrove, the Midlands and the rest of the UK. I am an undergraduate at the University of Worcester. As a student freelance designer working from home, I am able to provide affordable graphic solutions and also have access to a wide discipline of creative professionals. My decision to be a professional freelance designer came late in life. From a young age I was passionate about art and animation. In the late 90’s I became adept in software like Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator but for several years I developed a successful management career. At the peak of the recession I was made redundant, that’s when I made the decision to attend University. Throughout my management career I continued to provide graphic and website design services but then I decided that by becoming a university student I would not only hone my skills as a designer but also I would get to network with various other creative professionals. Although my portfolio obtained me a scholarship to De Montfort, I opted for Worcester as it had the best facilities and showed the most promise for progression in the future. In addition to graphic design and multimedia I also enrolled in photography to build upon what had previously just been a passion. I hope in the future to further the Photography aspect of the business to include weddings, and corporate events. As a freelance web designer by skills don’t end at creating an eye-catching webpage. Previous projects have made me adept in online marketing; I know all of the tips and tricks for getting webpages to the top of search engines results pages. I primarily design websites using Adobe Flash CS4; this is simply because its dynamic interface allows me to create aesthetically pleasing and highly functional website that are quick to load. For the majority of small businesses and organisations in my catchment area (Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich, Malvern, Bromsgrove, the Midlands and the rest of the UK) a Flash website is exactly what they need. However I am also well versed in traditional HTML, PHP and XML websites if that is called for. In the future I plan to target my local area (Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich, Malvern, Bromsgrove and the Midlands) with unique add campaigns. I have some very exciting new design ideas that I feel will change the way the nation views business pages and orders takeaways. When it comes to logo design, modern software has enabled small business to attempt to create their own company logo. But designing a good logo isn’t just about good knowledge of the software, it’s an eye for creating a logo that’s dynamic and aesthetically pleasing. Often a sound investment in company livery is money in the bank! In the meantime using my time as a student at the University of Worcester I continue to advance my graphic design and photography skills and hope that this will enable me to keep pushing the envelope of logo design, business card design, greeting card design, website design and photography in Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich, Malvern, Bromsgrove, the Midlands and the rest of the UK. If you’re a graphic designer, web designer, logo designer, wedding photographer, nature photographer, landscape photographer, portrait photographer or corporate photographer in Worcester, Pershore, Evesham, Droitwich, Malvern, Bromsgrove, the Midlands and the rest of the UK, get in touch, I’m always looking to expand my network of creative professionals

FAQ

How much will it cost?

The cost is completely subjective of the design project. “Designers” who offer fixed priced websites often use DIY templates and churn out unoriginal, often lacklustre pages. Real design is a much more organic process based on the needs of the client. I’m expanding my portfolio so it’s likely that my calibre of design will cost you much less than equivalent design from elsewhere. My quotes are free so the best thing to do is get in touch.

How long will it take?
This depends on the project. A client normally has a time frame in mind which I am usually able to work around.

What software are you proficient in?
I am proficient in the following software: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Quark, Pinnacle Studio, Swift 3D and numerous other design orientated programs.

How do I pay?
I accept cash, BACS, cheques and PayPal.

What area do you cover?
Potentially the whole world! I can, when required orchestrate projects via email or phone. In some cases however, a face to face approach is preferred, in which case I can travel around Worcester and the Midlands.

Will you keep me updated?
From the word go, the lines of communication are open. Whether you want to be kept in the loop about every detail or take a back seat, it’s completely up to you.
